Chinese herbal therapy is another branch of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM). A variety of herbal formulas are used to treat the body and establish balance. Herbal therapy can be very effective with or without Western medicine. This makes herbal therapies appealing in cases when Western medication cannot be used or when the pet parent prefers not use them.
Herbs are formulated into capsules, teapills or powders and are usually tolerated very well by the patient. Herbal therapies can be used for many conditions including but not limited to:
- arthritis
- disc disease
- cancer
- inflammatory bowel disease
- seizures
- asthma
- heart
- kidney and liver disease
- hormonal disease
- allergies
- immune-mediated diseases
