Pumpkin came to our home in Tecumseh ON in Spring 2009, an abandoned/feral kitten about 4 months old, starving and drinking water from our pool. We brought her in to feed her and join our family, including our 3rd cat for what we hoped would be a long and happy life. she was a tough cat who didn’t want be touched.
Over the next 16 years we built a great relationship, despite her sometimes snubbing me for days when i returned from being away. She would eventually give up and come back to her “bed” alongside my desk. Over the last couple years it was clear she was slowing down.
Last fall she stopped eating her canned and dry food, but did eat the meat i would cook up for her. In december it was clear she would need to euthanized and as always the “when” became the toughest decision i had to make. Dr. Turenne help her leave this world on December 15, 2025 at age 17ish. She was the most challenging and interesting of my 4 cats. Pumpkin lived the longest. I miss her so much. I hope to find a pair of older kittens or young cats to adopt this spring and start the next generation of family cats.
